June 1967 War
1966 - 1967
23 events
Documents events leading up to the Israeli surprise attack against Egypt, Jordan and Syria (resulting in the occupation of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai, and the Golan Heights), the daily chronicles of the war and its immediate aftermath: known in the Arab world as al-Naksa - the setback - the third Arab-Israeli war caused a second Palestinian exodus.
Continuing Exodus: Jordan River
A new temporary bridge across the Jordan River, near the destroyed Allenby Bridge, now links Jordan and the West Bank which has been occupied by Israel since June 1967. In the months following the hostilities thousands of new refugees - many of them from the Gaza Strip - crossed to east Jordan and the flow, though diminished, still continues.
