Relates Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s disengagement plan from the Gaza Strip, essentially, and its implementation: dismantlement of Israeli colonies, Israel’s tight control over borders and crossings, and new arrangements at the border between Gaza and Egypt.  A “separation plan” first envisaged by Sharon’s successor Ehud Olmert is put aside in the aftermath of Israel’s war on Lebanon in 2006.
